It’s been quite some time since our last post, but Rach and I have both been very busy. Most of our time has been taken up working on The Briars Market, which will be a weekly market held at The Briars in Mt Martha.
The process to get the market up and running has taken quite some time and plenty of effort from a number of people. Our aim is to connect local producers with the Mornington Peninsula community.
As mentioned earlier, The Briars Market will be held weekly on a Tuesday afternoon. Local producers (those within 40km of the market site) will be invited. We imagine that this will almost entirely consist of Mornington Peninsula producers.
Stalls will have a 3m x 3m area to sell their produce, with a couple of marquees available and power to many sites as well (if stallholders want it).
Starting the market is a fairly big change from the pure duck and vegetable direction that Rach and I were taking. We’ve both always wanted to start a market, having both worked with farmers’ markets previously.
Having the opportunity to start a market at The Briars is a fantastic opportunity and we really hope the local community gets behind the market to help it become a success.
At the moment we’re still completing some stallholder application forms and ticking a few final bits and pieces before we can fully launch into the stallholder and attendee campaign. At this stage the market will be held from 2-6pm each Tuesday. It’s an exciting time and our fingers are crossed for a great market – starting on the 20th of October!
